The colors are beautiful in Maui, Hawaii, and my good friend Devereaux, who lives there, is even more so. We took advantage of the very limited time we get with each other each year to shoot some portraits at the Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm. That place smelled WONDERFUL. After snapping some photos, we enjoyed delicious lavender time with honey, and a lavender scone. I bought some essential oils, and Dev and I tested out all the lavender products in the quaint gift shop.
The trip was filled with SO MUCH (overdue!) catching up, hiking, lots of sun, snorkeling, sneaking in to the Sheraton Hotel to use their awesome pool (and getting caught...), beach time, sour straw candy, window shopping, and animals (including little pigs!) It is always so hard to say goodbye, but I love having photos that instantly take me back to the happiness and healing of the ocean and a good friend.
I opted for a more muted editing style for these photos. Before, the colors were so bright (especially the greens!) they seemed to dominate the subject (Dev).
Above the clouds at Haleakala National Park!
Hiking to Twin Falls, on the road to Hana.
A field of sunflowers. Unfortunately stopping to get near the flowers was not prohibited.
