I met Kieran the summer of 2016 in Alaska. He is a silly person and fantastic musician, and when we had an opportunity to play music together, we went all out - creating alter personas, complete with overalls! We became Marla Jean and Clyde, from Sweetland, USA. We wrote original songs, and though the lyrics sometimes turned a little ridiculous, we were actually impressed by how well we worked together, and some of the songs weren't half-bad! In fact, when Kieran and a few other friends gathered in Arizona in January 2017 for a trip to the Grand Canyon (here's looking at you, Dev, Gavin and Anna!) we decided to record some of our old songs before Kieran flew back to Ohio. Below, enjoy a few photos from our impromptu recording session. No "studio" would be complete without a resident pup!
I had a fantastic time with Emily on this fun summer shoot. We both are staying in town for the summer, and in sunny Phoenix, Arizona, that means temperatures stay around 110 degrees! This will be the first summer I've spent in Arizona in four years, and rather than lament, Emily and I thought we'd create our own "staycation" through this photoshoot!
First, we headed over to the beautiful Saguaro Hotel. The many colors around the hotel gave the photos a bright, summery feel!
I absolutely love sunflowers, and they looked great against Emily's striped dress.
I associate summer with childlike freedom, and friends! What better way to celebrate the happiness that children have in summer than with balloons?
A good bathing suit is a necessity for hot Arizona summers!
No staycation would be complete without a hot pink room door at a fancy hotel.
Bubblegum harkens back to my childhood summers, and adds a slight 50s flare.
Sometimes the best thing to keep cool is to lounge in the shade, and hang out in a pool.
